One of the most successful stage productions ever written, The Mikado celebrated 125 years on the stage at Royal Festival Hall in London and Birmingham Symphony Hall. The London venue of course is directly across the Thames River from where it all started in The Savoy Theatre. A wonderful cast performed a semi-staged version with the complete original dialogue to sold out houses. A wonderful celebration for one of the greatest pieces of English repertoire!
Along with the concerts Alistair McGowan, Richard Balcombe, Simon Butteriss, Rebecca Bottone, and myself appeared on the BBC's "In Tune" and spoke about the production. Performing the numbers "Were you not to Koko plighted", "Here's a Howdy-do" and "A more humane Mikado"
